Methodology
How we choose topics
We check who currently holds the first page of results for a question before writing about it. Where established publishers already cover a topic well, we do not add another thin page to the pile. We write where the existing answers come from parties selling something and nobody has published a straight explanation.
How claims are sourced
Any statement about a rate, a term or an approval requirement carries a named source and a date by which we will check it again. Lending terms move, and a figure quoted without a date is indistinguishable from a figure invented. Pages that state a percentage without a source fail our build and do not publish.
What we will not publish
- A rate presented as if it were an offer. We are not a lender and cannot quote you one.
- Approval odds stated as fact. Underwriting is specific to you and we do not see your file.
- A recommendation to finance where buying outright is plainly better.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong or out of date, we want to know and we will fix it. Being paid on referrals gives us a reason to want you to finance something, and the only defence against that is being correctable in public. See how we make money.
